birthday

when we were small, we tend to look forward to our birthdays. the cake, gifts..

as we get older, it seems “just another birthday” esp. as we realised we r getting 1 yr older! haahahah

this yr, due to coronavirus, the planned visit to my husband on my birthday is cancelled. instead, i got a bouquet of flowers direct from prc! arriving at the perfect timing. orange and bright yellow tulips that lasted for over 10 days!

while fully aware that happiness is mostly an internal state rather than externally driven, it is still sweet to receive some goodies, esp. when one already survived for over half a century and it is from your 3-decade companion! haahhaah truly blessed.

i suddenly seem to realised why some people, even very old, still look very much forward to their own birthdays. to be the centre of attention, receiving goodies from everyone.

yet this is certainly a big trap. like Eckhart said, we spend most of our lives in the waiting room, waiting for that BIG day / those BIG moments.

i am reminded again that happiness is not only a choice but an ability.

an ability to observe, notice and be grateful for all we have / enjoying daily, and celebrate each day as if it is our birthday.

so from now on, i shall make each day my birthday. totally self reliant , self loving. keeping that festive mood high…regardless of circumstances.

this is a training for us all.

may we all be more aware of happy moments each day and fill our hearts with wonderful feelings.

this world will certainly be a much more lovely place!

Blessings be to all
