our brain is such a complicated organ mostly still unknown
how and why we remember certain events / moments / people / visual images / smell / sound… for decades is hard to explain.
the challenge is, while some of these memories are sweet, others might be painful. and we kind of re experience the pain to a certain degree every time we simply think about it.
to let go / delete that is much easier said than done. almost like impossible.
we might still be angry / sad / regretted about what happened / did not happen decades ago, what someone some said / did not say….
even for more pleasant memories, it seems to bring about some sadness too, esp. when we want to relive / repeat that wonderful moment but cannot do now. e.g. someone passed away, the place no longer exist…
to hang on often in the past, even though it was sweet, prevent us from living in the present.
we might not be able to delete these memories as we wish, yet with greater awareness, we can have greater resistance against being drawn away from the present unconsciously and fall into the same trap over and over again.
like old files, they r here to stay, until someday we do not remember.
to acknowledge and be grateful for them is the key.
“good” and “bad” all for a reason, lessons learnt, karmic debt repaid…
“the best is yet to come” might help us a little to jump out of the past, yet again pulling us away from the present to the future and always put us in a “waiting mode” .
may we all have greater consciousness, so that we can be free from the past and future, thus truly enjoy the joy of being this present moment brings.
Blessings be to all
